Strasbourg & Colmar, France
Alsace in December is a fairy tale. Strasbourg, "Capital of Christmas", attracts 2 million visitors. The alleys of Colmar or Riquewihr are magnificent, but crowded.
It's a visual journey. You will take 500 photos a day. But will you be able to send them?
The Connectivity Challenge: The Cold and the Crowd
- Extreme Density: In the small medieval streets, the crowd is compact. The network saturates quickly on weekends.
- Battery and Cold: It's cold. Your battery will melt. If the network is bad, it will melt twice as fast.
Technical Analysis: Connected Alsace
- Strasbourg: Very good 5G coverage.
- Villages (Wine Route): Coverage is good outdoors, but wine cellars and old half-timbered houses have thick walls that block waves.
The Alolilo Advice: Enjoy the Moment
- France Plan: If you come from Switzerland or Germany (just next door), be careful not to stay on your national network in roaming if your plan is limited. A France eSIM is often cheaper.
- Night Photos: Night mode on smartphones is power-hungry. Plan for storage space and Cloud (so data).
- Pedestrian GPS: To find the best bredele (cookies) or mulled wine stand, Google Maps is your friend.
Merry Connected Christmas. Share the magic with those who are far away.
